PipStep

Privacy Policy

Last updated 14 October 2026

The short version

  • Your family's information stays on your phone. Your child's name, picture, photos, voice recordings, routines and history are never sent to us or anyone else.
  • There is no account, no advertising and no tracking, and we never sell data.
  • The app sends anonymous usage statistics about the parent side, which you can turn off in the app.
  • If you buy PipStep Pro, Apple or Google handles the payment and our purchase provider, RevenueCat, confirms it with an anonymous ID.

Who we are

PipStep is made by AMARINO LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 17345250), 128 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, United Kingdom. We are responsible for the information described in this policy. You can reach us at contact@amarinostudio.com.

What stays on your phone

Everything you put into the app is stored only on your device. We never receive it, and the app has no server of its own. This includes:

The app asks for the camera, your photo library and the microphone only when you choose to add a photo or a recording, and only the photo you pick is used. Face ID, Touch ID or your Android phone's fingerprint or face unlock is checked by your phone itself; the app only learns whether it succeeded and never sees your face or fingerprint. Reminders are scheduled on the phone and do not go through any server.

When you share a week

History lets you share a week as a PDF, for example with a teacher or therapist. The PDF contains your child's name and that week's routines. It is only created when you tap Share, and it goes only to the person or app you pick in your phone's share sheet. We don't receive a copy.

Phone backups

If you back up your phone (for example with iCloud, or Google's backup on Android), the backup may include the app's data, as it does for most apps. That backup is kept by Apple or Google under your settings and their terms, not by us.

Anonymous usage statistics

To learn which parts of the app help families and which don't, the app sends a small number of anonymous events from the parent side to PostHog, an analytics service, on servers in the European Union.

What is sent:

What is never sent: names, anything you type, photos, recordings, your PIN, anything that describes your child (such as calm mode), or anything at all from child mode. Your IP address is not stored and is not used to find your location. No advertising ID is collected, and nothing is used to track you across other apps or websites.

You can turn this off at any time in Manage → App → Share anonymous usage. The app then sends nothing at all to PostHog.

We rely on our legitimate interest in improving the app to send these statistics, and we keep them for no longer than two years.

Purchases

PipStep Pro is sold through the App Store on iPhone and iPad, and through Google Play on Android. Apple or Google handles the payment: we never see your card details, your Apple ID, your Google account or your name.

To confirm whether Pro is active on your phone, the app uses RevenueCat, a service that manages in-app purchases. RevenueCat receives an anonymous ID created by the app, the purchase information Apple or Google provides (which plan, its price, the dates of your free week and renewals, and whether it is active), and basic device and app information. RevenueCat processes this in the United States on our behalf, so that you get what you paid for, including when you restore a purchase. We keep purchase records for as long as needed to provide Pro and to meet our legal and tax obligations.

Children

PipStep is made for parents and carers to set up and run, and its parent side is protected by a PIN. We do not collect personal information from children. Child mode sends nothing to us or to anyone else, and the information you enter about your child stays on your phone.

What we don't do

Where information is processed

We are based in the United Kingdom. PostHog processes the anonymous usage statistics in the European Union, and RevenueCat processes purchase information in the United States. Where information leaves the UK, it is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as standard contractual clauses.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete information about you, object to how we use it, or ask us to limit its use. Because the app has no account and the information we receive is anonymous, we usually can't tell which records are yours. If you write to us, we'll do our best to help.

If you're unhappy with how we handle information, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also say so in the app update that brings it.
